Thanks let me think about both Furtechs. I’m also considering a

CDPort Static Eliminator IME1

and the

DS Audio ION-001

But both if these may be too large - my TT doesn’t leave much real estate to place them on ….

I found this to be an interesting investigation of how static can be properly dealt with. It deal with the Destat, but the investigation - testing - is interesting and IMO could be applied to or against other anti-static products as well …

Joel - thanks for the link. I think. Was wondering just how to spend that $400 I had burning a hole in my pocket.
Does not tell us "how" the Destat III works, only that it seems to.
Could waste many hours listening to his vids.

I found his testing interesting. If his thoughts are accurate, some come always for me are:

(1) use the Destat only off the TT
(2) using Destat on the table doesn’t give as good of results

It left me wondering if using any anti-static device would work better off the TT then on it.

Hmm, I find this thread and your comments interesting. I love the sound of my TT, but noise bugs me. Things to ponder.

Noise bugs me too. As you said these are things to ponder. Only my older records give some occasional pops - older meaning 40-60 YOA. Newer records I hear nothing but the music … But according to the video the Destat has a more substantial impact upon the static off the TT than upon it. Remove the anti-static just before placing record on the TT as in the video. For me this was an important point. In the video he demonstrates many of the reasons why.

I'm using the Furutech ASB-1 antistatic brush and the Ursa Major brush from Germany, pretty happy with both!

Yes. Wonder if the Milty should also be used prior to placing on the platter.

I have a fiend who uses it prior to placing the record on the platter. This static stuff is a little more involved than I initially thought.

While I presently have a good brush I think I’m going to try the Berlin-Ramar Brush.

Fremer seems to like it in his Dust Off Video. Not sure about a static control device yet. I don’t get much static. And the Plasma Lighter from Amazon works well …
