Just the standard challenges of sustaining a brick 'n mortar store these days.

Great site, I shopped there occasionally over the years and got good advice. The post I saw said he’d been in business for 40 years and had 10 employees. It may just be that he wanted to retire: a small, one-person business like that can be very difficult to sell, so it’s not unusual for a retiring owner to just liquidate inventory and close the doors.

I read this on the Hoffman forums last month, looks like they did close up shop.

Sad. Can look around my listening space and see several items I've purchased from them over the years. His website was also a great resource.

When I lived in Minneapolis it was always a treat to go to his shop and talk vinyl to folks who loved it as much as I did. :)
