JBL speaker lines not available in the USA?

Why does JBL choose to make their best lines of speakers only available outside of the USA? Is it because JBL doesn't want to compete with so many great speaker brands available here? Is it because they can charge higher prices overseas? I would sure like to check the K2 and Pro Series product lines out, they look very interesting and tempting :D Surely there must be enough audiophiles in this country to make it worth their while, what's up with that?

Brad.......Contact Ivan (Masterlu) by PM. I believe he is a JBL dealer. Also, Audio Classics is a JBL dealer. They sell the K2 S9900 there.

Ivan: The picture you took at CEDIA of the JBL - what model was that and what list price? The K2 S9900 is around $45,000, correct?:scratch2:

Yes, the K2 S9900 is $45K; I need to locate the pic and find it in the price catalog. I have a suitcase full of material from the show to digest. :lmao:

At $45K for the K2 S9900's, those blue JBL Pro Series speakers are probably more my speed :D

I used to have the 4312s made from '82- '85. It had a different non-metal tweeter and the midrange was mounted on an angle. This photo is different because mine was walnut like speakers from that era. I wonder if this is a reissue, but I don't know for sure.
As far as sound it's midrange was clear and seemed to lack coloration, but the bass seemed to be rolled off and didn't have much drive to it. The highs also seemed to be rolled off without any sparkle. This is while being powered by a vintage '79 HK-670 dual mono receiver. Maybe another amp would have addressed these issues. I was expecting more from them so they didn't last long in my home.
