Museum Visits

Cold weather is an excellent time to visit museums.
Enjoyed Morgan Library in NYC earlier in the month. Took in the Modigliani show at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia today. Good show (fairly small as he died at 35) and the Barnes is a great visit. Largest single collection of Renoir & Cezanne. Also 7 Van Gogh and many others, like Matisse. Do like what they've done with their cellphone app. Point your phone at the piece of art you are interested in and up pops the info on the phone. Great use of modern technology. If you aren't familiar with the Barnes it is a most interesting story (The Devil and Dr. Barnes is a good read). Was my b'day lunch at the Barnes (lump crab on avocado toast with a glass of decent Pinot). Good way to spend the day. Next up is the Matisse show at the Philadelphia Art Museum after the New Year. With the Matisse at the Barnes it is a nice over-lap. https://www.audioaficionado.org/atta...1&d=1671507219 https://www.audioaficionado.org/atta...1&d=1671507236 https://www.audioaficionado.org/atta...1&d=1671507236 |
