New Magico A5's Poor-Man's M Series ?
Could these new A5's be as good as the Magico M2 speakers ?! :smoking:
http://www.theabsolutesound.com/arti...eaker-preview/ The Magico A5's are a perfect match with the all new Boulder 866 Integrated amp! |
These A5's are a lot better than I thought !

Looking forward to hearing these myself. Looking to upgrade speakers next year and these are def a contender

I heard the A5s (now up to $24800) and the M2s with mpods ($68000) in the same room on the same amp (Luxman m900u). The A5s were 98% as good for most applications and actually sounded better with hard rock. The imaging was spot on for both. The M2 advantage was more controlled, cleaner bass, but for about 1/3 the cost, the A5s are a no brainer if you have the budget. Absolutely amazing speakers and bested (IMHO) the $38000 Wilson Sasha DAWs and other speakers that were 2-3x the price (e.g., Focal Scala Utopias).

Would say that the A5 gave maybe at best 60-70% of the performance of the M2. They were still very good performers for their price range. I have also heard Focal Utopia Scala's as I currently own the Maestro's A5 not in same league but again budget, price etc should be kept in mind Edward |

Both the 800 and 802's are great speakers for the price. They checkmark just about everything one would want again at a great price point. Ultimately for me, the Diamond tweeter was too bright and fatiguing at times compared to the Berrylium tweeters of Focal and Magico for instance. The midrange for me is also more precise on the Focal's and Magico's I have heard compared to the B&W's Ultimately the choice always comes down to your preference of sound/image and of course price point. Looking at the A series center, ACC, how does it voice match the A5? ACC uses different drivers.
Looking at LCR full replacement and want close to perfect voice match. |
Did a weekend home demo of the A1 speakers with the dedicated Sound Anchor stands. Very impressed with both the sound and mass of these units (with stands, about 125 lbs each). For the right room these are a great choice below $10K. A bit industrial looking for a living room/reading room system such as ours.
Did a full mono (mono v mono) comparison with the existing Audio Physic - the A1's did not go as low of course, but the bass was noticeably tighter. the highs.( e.g cymbals) were unmistakably better. Might try the S1 MKII. |

Is anyone using ACC center with other Magico speakers? |

I’m using a Magico ACC center with M project speakers in my basement theater. They blend seamlessly and sound great! Paired with REL25 subwoofer. |

Update: it’s SCC, not ACC center channel |
