Weber 18" Kettle Mod

3 Attachment(s)
I got bored with standard Weber kettles so I decided to mod an 18" Weber kettle grill. The legs, leg bracing, axle, grill grate, and charcoal grate have all been upgraded to stainless steel. I then added the Weber stainless steel ash dump and thermometer. The oversized orange wheels even have ball bearing hubs. I know it's ridiculous, but it was fun to build and it works great! Plus it's in Oregon Stage University colors, the real OSU!!! Here's a picture from when I finished the build.

Nice Job! You Hot-Rodded it superbly well.

Now, what are you going to grill on it?

Oh man, now I have kettle-grill envy!

Nice job! I had a few Webers over the years. 18” 21” and than a Performer. I always loved the flavor of the food you got from charcoal. I even had an extension ring and rotisserie and would cook whole turkeys for Thanksgiving on them. Unfortunately, I caved and went propane due to the convenience. Enjoy.

Thanks! It was a fun build. I already cooked a couple of rib-eye steaks on it and they were amazing!

 Nice!
Were the thermometer and stainless ash dump a simple attachment (few screws or nuts & bolts) or did it involve some drilling, etc.?

Both easy upgrades. Weber sells the ash dump as an option which snaps on. The thermometer did however require drilling.

Thanks.
After considering all options, I went for a 14" Char-Griller AKORN egg and will add a digital controller option https://bbqguru.com/storenav/Package...&&productId=22 for smoking ribs & brisket, etc.
