Finally a line on CR-1's
I finally have a line on getting the TAD CR-1's
The wheels are turning, if I get them what to mate them up with. Also where to put them; perhaps Florida. :scratch2: |

We just want you to experience what we C-J owners do everday! ;)
The other line I would suggest would be Octave, an Octave Jubilee pre and MRE monos. But I think the C-J would mate better with the CR-1s...the very slight warmth will be just the ticket for the more analytical CR-1s. |
Based purely on looks, I would prefer CJ.

Ivan.......I think Accuphase would be a fine compliment to TAD CR-1's.

I agree Dan, that is some fine looking gear.

without a question, TAD's own electronics which were designed specifically for the cr-1's.

I can personally attest to how good the CR-1s sound with TAD electronics.
Or Technical Brain, which you can't buy in the U.S. |

I am leaning on a new TAD CR-1 and all Aesthetix Electronics rig.
Your thoughts are welcome. |

I think that would be a fine choice. The upfront nature of the CR-1's and a slightly warmer nature of the Atlas amps should be perfect. If you decide to add subs, the Atlas has built-in crossover function. |

Ivan, why don't you go really crazy and pair them up with some Gryphon amps? Also black... :P

Joost... Gryphon just doesn't do it for me. :dunno:

Anyways, my vote goes to the TAD mono blocks. http://www.phileweb.com/hihyou/200909/3683t.jpg |

At 170 lbs each. :yikes:

Yeah they are a logistical nightmare!

HRS to match the CR-1's veneer? I would go with TAD or Aesthetix |

CR1s need tubes in the chain. I found the Tad monoblocks cold and lifeless. Ymmv

Well, he did say YMMV, I think this will apply to most people.
I personally know for a fact that the CR1's are a fantastic combo with Burmester SS amplification, so his first statement does not carry much weight with me. I have not heard the TAD monoblocks so I cannot comment, his impression of 'cold and lifeless' is the first negative comment I have read. This is why I asked for his reference... I expect his home system to be an SET tube love-fest with a very coloured presentation. |

And I'm the opposite -- I thought the TAD speakers sounded better with VTL, although they were very good with TAD electronics.
