Battle of the No.3’s?

Has anyone had a chance to hear the Sopra 3 next to the Kanta 3? Curious if the $7k to $8k difference in price equates to that noticeable of an improvement. Hard to believe, but.... :scratch2:

Yes, this is what I also want to hear about because the specs of Kanta No.3 and Sopra No.3 are almost identical. It would be nice to hear from someone who has compared them side by side.

This question was asked in this earlier thread in post #17, and answered pretty definitively by a forum member in the following two posts. Whether you will agree with that assessment is another question entirely... :scratch2:

I debated between the Kanta 2 and Sopra 2 and ended up buying the Sopra 2's. The Kanta's are interesting because they use the 'F' cone of the Aria and the tweeter of the Sopra (latest gen). I'm sure some of the cost difference is due to the fact, the Sopra and Utopia lines both use the 'W' cone which still has to be made by hand and the 'F' cone is not. I'm sure their are other differences to justify the cost, that's just one that sticks out to me.

Interesting for sure. I didn’t know/realize that about the cones. The Kanta is a almost a hybrid of parts.

Picture of 3’s next to each other?

Does anyone have a picture to post of the two speakers next to each other? Would like to see how they compare. Thx!

I just realized those are the 2’s

While the cabinets of the kanta's look nice I think they are probably a bit of a savings compared to the sopra. I heard the kanta 3 and really thought focal nailed it. I didn't spend the time to test how resolving they were because they were doing such a good job of making music. I missed owning them by 3 days! Personally I think the sweet spot for speakers is $5k and after that we are paying for incremental refinement and while I wouldn't pay list price for any speaker I would buy the kanta3 at $12k b4 the kanta2 at $10k.

Believe the first link is of 3's. The second link is Sopra 3 & Kanta 2.

I did audition Sopra 3 with Bryston 7B mono-blocks. Unfortunately for the Sopra's, I also auditioned a pair of the large Evo Focals at the same audition with the 7B's and and it was such a step up that the Soprs's were out of the running. I'm slowly shopping speakers at the moment and wonder how the Sopra 1's would play with 25wpc of Class A ?
