Mytek Empire (Streamer, DAC, Preamp, Phono)

Mytek's new reference all-in-one box (except amp) with Roon Core.

Really interested to see how this will perform, especially with the mono block amps rated @ 500W/8 Ohm or 1000W/4 Ohm.

Hoping this will be a very high performing combo with small footprint.

That's a really steep price tag. $20,000 puts this above comparable offerings from dCS, Boulder, Bricasti, Bryson, etc.

This will be interesting. $20k for an ESS 9038 based D/A in a box with a high powered CPU able to run Roon Core w/DSP (Roon recommends an i7) and a bunch of analog preamp stuff.

If anybody can pull this off Mytec can.

This sure solves the Roon problem for the folks who don’t’ want to mess with setting up a NAS/NUC/Streamer.

That is pricey. I love Roon, but still gun-shy after starting back in audio again with Olive 10 years ago - once the software was gone, the hardware went with it.

Networking is becoming very easy and stable. A good pre-amp/DAC and separate streamer/renderer is not a bad way to go.

For me Olive is a cautionary tale. I just won’t open my wallet for a proprietary computer-based product from a company that hasn’t been around very long and is based on another continent.

Still plenty of great offerings from established audio companies.
