How much Schiit does one need?

Need a preamp for my new Manley Mahi monoblocks. Trying to decide between the Saga (passive) and the Freya preamps. What say you? How much Schiit does a person need?

Glenn.......The fully balanced Schiit Audio Freya offers more options, particularly balanced inputs and outputs, the ability to use it in passive mode or with the tubes engaged, and remote control. Go for the gusto.

It’s OK but not great IMO.

While the Freya obviously has more bells & whistles and a balanced in/out, I'm leaning towards the Saga for my 'minimalist' system for now. If it doesn't suit me in the first 15 days I'll send it back and get the Freya. My longer term foal is to find a CJ or BAT tube preamp.

I'm absolutely amazed at how inexpensive Schiit gear costs. In perusing the Web for a phono preamp, I was shocked to discover Schiit's phono preamp - the Mani, only costs $129! How on earth?!

Check out Ray Samuels F-117 Nighthawk. Also made in the USA. 5-6X the cost of the Schiit, but receives great reviews.

Thanks. I found one at this point - the Bryston BP-2. I just remember wondering if the Schitt Mani is a loss leader for them.

I don’t think Schiit have to resort to ‘loss leaders’ to maintain market share.

Loss leaders are used to expand market share. That said, I think you're right that they probably either break even or eke out a tiny profit with the Mani, but only after passing a rather large milestone of units sold to make up for the total cost of the R&D plus manufacturing expenses. $129 for a decent phono preamp today is simply amazing.
