Linn LP12 Akurate Upgrade path
I have a Linn LP12 Akurate with Koetsu Redwood Signature. It is only six months old so has the new bearing. I like it’s detail, balance and dynamics. If I have a criticism it is the noise floor is higher than I would like. I am in the middle of a home renovation and can’t do all the upgrades, so need to pick one. The choices are the Radikal DC motor, Ekos SE tone arm, or the Keel upgrade. Anyone have experience with these and some thought?

Several years ago Art Dudley wrote a column in Stereophile describing his experience with various upgrades to his Linn LP12. I tried and failed to post a link to it, but it's worth searching out if you haven't read it.

The consensus among LP12 gurus are that the most impactful upgrades to an Akurate LP12 are the following in order:
1) Karousel 2) Radikal 3) Keel 4) Ekos SE |
Thank you.
I have the Bearing. I was going to do the Radikal, but it’s prices were already increased last year with an upgrade. So I ordered the Keei and Ekos se before the prices went up on Jan 1st. Thanks. George |

The Radikal has had an upgrade, it is now the Radikal 2. The upgrade applies to both the Klimax and Akurate versions.
If you have a Lingo, this would be the next upgrade, assuming you have already done the Karousel. |
