Triangle Magellan Duetto

New speakers arrived and am listening the first side of DSOTM (as I had just played on the old speakers) and the first thing that is obvious is the increased sound stage depth and improvement in the smoothness between the drivers. The mid-to-low bass is faster/tauter, as well. First listen is an improvement on classic rock. Many genres to go (and, not fully broken-in). Not too unexpected as one moves up the food-chain in $$.

Optimizing placement, etc., still weeks away as they break-in.

Extremely well packed (with white gloves - don't they all these days) with two cloth bags per speaker. The finish is stunning. As much as I think the fit & finish of the Canton Refs is tops, the Duetto is a cut above.

Glenn - They look beautiful, enjoy them in the best of health! Looks like the mahogany finish, it's hard to see the grain in the pic but their detailed gloss finishing is flawless. Triangle manufactures the cabinets and drivers in house in France for the Magellan series. Each pair is tested, extensively broken in, and then critically listened to in their reference system to ensure each achieves a consistent level of performance. You've made an excellent choice in speakers!

Congrats!! Which stands did you choose?

Just using what I have as there are no Duetto stands in NA at the moment. I'm not sure which way I'll go, but the matching stands are quite nice.

Made a feeble attempt to get a good shot of the finish, but my room has so many reflections it is difficult.

Congratulations Glenn, those are beautiful speakers.

Very nice Glenn. Are you saying the stands are not available for now in the States? After an unexpected accident years ago, any monitor I buy must have a stand that attached to the speaker. I will be following this thread as you update with your observations.

Out-of-stock in NA when I ask.
I'm pretty happy with the stands from my Canton speakers now that I've put the correct size Herbie's dots at each corner of the stand's platen. Have about 20-25# of sand and shot in each stand, so not really missing the factory stands (at the moment).

Am very pleased with the sound and visuals of the Duetto. Very good 3-D imaging & sound-stage and plenty of bass for my needs. They work very well with the music I prefer, which is about 90% acoustic.

EDIT: Have to admit, the addition of the Herbie's Fat Dots has made a noticeable improvement in 'tightening up' the presentation. Smear (for lack a of more 'audiophile' term) has been reduced. Did not notice it until its gone. I'm thinking of adding their heavier dots between the stand base and floor, though IsoAcoustic are working well for me under my TT.
