Reel to Reel Repair Recommendation

I have a Tandberg TD 20A Reel to Reel that I would like to have repaired/restored. Can anyone recommend a place in the New York/New Jersey area.

For Tandberg, there's no place like Soundsmith.

Thanks....I wasn't aware that Soundsmith repaired Reel to Reel. I'll definitely give them a call.

I remember Art Dudley toured Soundsmith a couple years ago and it was pretty clear that Peter did repair work for other type equipment aside from just carts.

I would be very interested to know if he can work on old RTR's.

Sam Palermo in Chicago is my go to guy, but that's for Teac, Tascam and Pioneer decks. Not sure about Tandberg, but I would like to know.

Please keep us posted.

I would reach out to Myles Astor.

Soundsmith is known for their Tandberg repairs. They seem pricey but there are limited resources available for them these days. The tapeheads guys are concerned about the motor for the 10x/xd which will die and leave the machine a doorstop but SS as a motor and board replacement. Not cheap but doesn't seem out of line. I'd expect a Tandberg sent to them would come back like new.

I'm glad to see Myles listed here. I'll add him to the list as I have a pair of the 10s that might need work. Bought and refurbished a Crown to stand in while the Tandbergs are awaiting me recapping them.
