BT Open-back Cans
 

Have a set of AKG Y50BT cans that my wife has confiscated for her use. That's OK, as she listens "loud" and that was my secret plan all along. Now I need a set for my use and I want open-back as I find closed-back cans to be claustrophobic.

Anyone had good results with same? I'm not looking for "audiophile" grade, but do want something with decent SQ and comfort, which the AKG Y50BT has. Thanks.

Unfortunately, it looks like Audeze does not offer a model that would work for me. Their Penrose "might" be made to work, but not sure their dongle would work with a smart TV or BT transmitter. Seems to need either a gaming console or a PC.

Ivan hooked me up with a pair of Grado GW100 v2. Should have shortly.

GW100 V2 arrived today in good shape. Plugged in for a couple of hours to fully charge. Took abut 30sec to pair with my Shanling M3s music player and singing sweetly.
Very comfortable & light-weight. The bass will take some breaking-in and have to relearn the in's & out's of the Shanling. Wynton Kelly is sounding very good. Not vinyl, but nice for a portable system.

The GW100s have "loosened up" considerably after being left playing overnight. So much so that the volume sounded considerably higher this morning then I recall last evening. Especially the bass. Think they will be great for my needs.

Interesting side note.......... I could find nothing on the box or headphone indicating they are the V2 models. I gave Grado a call and an actual person answered the phone. The best part is she did not hand me off to someone else or put me on hold. Instead, she knew exactly the answer to my question. Excellent customer service.
