Canton K5 Bought
I bought a pair of Canton Reference K5 today, in Gloss Cherry as pictured. I am very pleased with the Canton line. :ok:

Congrats Ivan! They are very attractive.

Mike... thanks, I’m not even 100% sure where I will use it. The entire Reference K line are really exceptional speakers.

The pictures of the Canton Reference speakers show a very beautifully finished speaker. Congratulations on the K5's!

Very nice, congrats. All Aboard the Canton train!

Congrats. That finish looks beautiful in the Canton advertisements.
What is the delivery time for a pair? Can you put them in your Accuphase system? Might be interested in the K7 or K9, but, wonder if that Al tweeter could be a bit hot with solid-state. |

Conrats on the purchase of the beautiful Canton's, Ivan.
I love the rich cherry wood finish. They should really sing with Accuphase gear! |
Hi! Greetings from Belarus and sorry for my english)))
It's really inspiring that You like this Reference K line so much, especially considering your other gear. I'm currently waiting for delivery of 9 K cherry (don't have a big room to manage floorstanders of Reference line). Had Vento line (first edition) before. Have you recieved this 5 K cherry pair already? I'm interested in how they look in real world, compairing to official images. Every other photo on the internet seems to be different. Also, if you can comment, how this Canton's line compares to some of it's rivals? Something like B&W 8**, Dynaudio Contour, Dali Epicon etc. But any comparison would be interesting. |
Have had my pair of 9Ks for several days and they have turned into excellent speakers with considerably more bass ability then one would think with a monitor. A great match to the E-270. While I went with black, the fit & finish is outstanding. Will be filling the main column on the stands with either sand or lead shot. It would be easy to get 50# of lead shot into each of them, which might be too much for the glass base. Likely go with sand, which should add 15-20# and not have to worry about the base. Will also try the spikes and bi-wiring.

Thank You for these shots! Beautiful.
The color seems to be very lighting dependent. And it's normal for real wood with gloss lacquer. |
Beautiful, Ivan! Very nice.

I like the color very much. [emoji106]

Beautiful speakers. These speakers go beyond their price point in both performance and appearance. I’m sure they will sing with the electronics they are about to marry. Probably the highest quality electronics anyone has ever put on speakers at this price point! |
Just beautiful. Congrats!!

I have some minor issue with my pair in that finish. They package speakers with grills ON (rather strange thing to do, when those grills have direct contact with gloss finish). The packaging causes additional pressure (together with magnets on a grill). And they use some cloth between a speaker cabinet and grill.
I have spots of "texture" from that cloth on the front side of cabinets. Round spots in places, where magnets contact with lacquer. And it seems like they can not be polished out (most of them). I've managed to polish out some other minor scratches very easily, so the laquer seems to be really soft. Maybe the laquer vas very fresh at packaging time? One can't be sure. Kinda weird, because the finish and build quality is stunning). Anyway, those can be seen only at some angles with backlight (bright objects reflections), so I can live with that. Just curious, if You noticed that bug? I'm not able to see these speakers in showrooms, it was my order. |
Are you still holding the 1K’s in storage?
|
Handsome speakers!

Canton replaced the grille of course, but it still leaves a bad feeling about their packaging decisions. When you look at how the other hi-end manufacturers crate their speakers convinces me that Canton needs to rethink their large speaker shipping cartons. This in no way is meant as a criticism of their outstanding speakers. I know in my case the Ref -1 DC’s are phenomenal sounding |

Really beautiful speakers. I was surprised at the price tag. I would have figured it would be higher.
