Heresy IV - midrange harchness
 

My system is near complete. One niggle I have is a bump at 1500hz (roughly). Some albums have a lot there and its hard to listen to. Others are just fine. When I saw Guy Richie's video for his Forte 3 crossover he measured the same thing.

I'm curious as to how to kick that down a few db.

Klipsch is a brand with a huge fan base so I’ll be sensitive when saying this. I think that some of their heritage speakers sound great but the Heresy and the Forte are incredibly bright to MY ears. I know many that feel the same way but there are many who do not and consider it “heresy” to say that Klipsch are bright, no pun intended. I say this because you might be in the same camp as me and there might not be much that you can do about the high frequency bump you are describing.

Think he may "have it right"........... My Canton Reference 9K speakers did not "come alive" until driven by 20wpc of Class A. The Klipsch Heritage series speakers may, as he suggests, be the same.

I'm new to this Klipsch stuff and most people are reporting the new Heritage IV line to be the best yet and loving Class A or Tubes. It's nice knowing you don't need mega watts to fill your room or house with great sound.

Last month I set up a second new system for my sister and decided on the Heresy IV's to fill her large open room with 16 foot ceilings. The larger Cornwall IV's size scared her. I added a sub to help the bottom end and finalized a 60hz crossover using the high level (speaker level) connection to both speakers. She wanted ease of use and decided on the Naim Uniti Atom with only 40 watts. This works well for her and Roon responds fast even with Wi-Fi. Her previous speakers SF Domus Concerto were too weak for her big room and didn't play well at low volume.

The Heresy IV's are not harsh to her, just clean, clear, dynamic, good imaging with great sound playing quietly or blasting the house effortlessly without any distortion.

The Hersey's respond well with good quality components.

When I auditioned the new Herseys with a Mcintosh MA 352 I heard no such concerns. Maybe it was the tube pre-amp section or maybe its your room environment.
