Is This Putting Your System At Risk?

nola.com which is the digital version of the old New Orleans Times Picayune ran this article a few days ago. Not sure if the genteman is a member here, but he owns a fabulous audio system. Extremely hi-end.

The part that is of concern is that his name and all of his kit is published for the world to see and he lives in an area that has been plagued for years by all types of crime, from petty to very serious. Murders, carjackings, robberies, breakin's, muggings, all part of the daily fabric of life now in that town where I was born and lived and worked for many years. Personally, I would never have agreed to the interview.

Hell with the system. What about his family?

Of course family safety is paramount. I'm thinking more that someone cases his house and waits for him to be gone or on vacation.

Maybe I'm over-reacting, but why advertise your equipment in this way.

My wife used to live in that area. She carried 2 bags of groceries from her trunk into her house and in the time it took to get back they nicked the rest of her food.

Does it look to you that the room is a bit too narrow for those big MBL's and that massive amount of amplification? :scratch2:

That is definitely a risk! I'm guessing a specific address can be derived from this info? I wouldn't have done that either.

It's something that definitely concerns me with all the gear I keep. But I have quite good physical security, not a normal residence at all, in a good part of town. A street thug could not break in. And the main room sounds pretty good. It's the reason I've kept this spot for 13 years, and it will take an act of God to make me give it up lol.

A typical home is a nightmare to defend, with all the ground floor windows and kick-in-able doors :(

Also I have the big components as scheduled items on my insurance. More expensive, but peace of mind.
