So, what is the status of Plinius in the USA these days?
For a few years, it looked like Plinius was getting some heavy attention in the US. I auditioned some of their gear at dealers & really liked some of what I heard. Have in the past considered some of their integrated amps, but for one reason or another, I've always gone another direction.
Now? None of the dealers I know of carry the line anymore, and don't see nearly the mention of any of their current gear. So, what's the scoop? :scratch2: |
WOW!
That post of mine was just a couple days over 2 years ago. Never got a response, and in that time I've had more than a few friends consider Plinius gear - mostly based on ebay listings. They turn to me as an "expert." I've told anyone who asked to make their own mind up based on sound & possible lack of any further service. DO know one person who went ahead and purchased an 9100. |
I got to play around with some of their components. Their amps ran extremely hot (165 degrees) even at idle.

According to their dealer search they currently have active dealers in 13 US states. They do offer some nice sounding gear but there seem to be many other more actively promoted lines available.

I own an SA-102 as does a friend and another who owns the newer SA-103, all 'cool as a cucumber' until biased into Class A |

Audio Video Therapy in Nashua NH has the Plinius line. They had the SA-103 hooked up to a pair of Aerial 7T's. The combination was quite impressive.

I have two SA-103s. I absolutely love them.

I owned a Hautonga for a while. It was a great amp. I puchased it at AV Therapy in Nashua NH.
