"A Whiter Shade of Pale" was one of the relatively few rock songs my mother liked. She liked it because of the organ; she played herself, for our church's choir. Sorry to hear about Gary Brooker.

I would not be who I am without Procul Harum.

This is probably why:D ; "The Hammond organ line of “A Whiter Shade of Pale” was inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach's “Sleepers, Wake!” and “Air on the G String” but contrary to popular belief, the song is not a direct copy or paraphrase of any music by Bach although it makes clear references to both pieces."

If "Sleepers Awake" is what I think it is (a Christmas song), I could see it being an inspiration for "Whiter Shade of Pale."
