USB DAC waste of money or worthwhile?
Hi Everyone and thanks for reading my question. I am an x audiophile and crossed over to the dark side 15 years ago using a yamaha dsp a1.
Since 100 % of my music is stored in my Mac Computer in either flac or mp3 form I have come to the conclusion that there is no reason to go crazy on new pre-amps and amps since I am limited by my source. I first heard of a USB DAC today. Does anyone have a suggestion of which DAC would best go with my Mac powerbook. Thanks Aufarb |
Aufarb, welcome to the asylum. :D
FLAC files are, in theory, identical to redbook CD performance. Connecting to a proper system for playback of these files will give you excellent performance., no need to shun good gear for that music. mp3's, well those won't sound as good. A basic way to proceed would be with a Cambridge Audio DAC Magic, which is inexpensive and highly regarded. Or you can go directly to an MDA1000. :smoking: |
