hi,

thanks for the answer. Well, all my cables are Cardas Golden Reference, power and XLR.
The problem is , HTS is a processor and not a stereo pre amp. It has however a PRE AMP mode that i am using. Some very good recordings sound nice, however when i listen to many other albums, it's like there is a noise behind some instrument right before they play. Like a cloud following them kind of.
I cant explain in details. It brings you all the sound together instead of differentiating them... Like when a guitar plays bass strings, there is like a OUUUUU small kind of sound behind right before they play. Not clean.

Now , this is a very trained ear here. Any person might think my sound is awesome. However, it's something i try to improve here. I know that the 202 is no comparison with the HTS. One is a processor for home theater.

But just trying to get answers here to justify spending big bucks for the 202....

thank you!

I'm a fan of Krell since a long time. That in mind...I would say Krell Evo 202 and Phantom is some of the best pre amps there is. Especially if you can use it with Krell Cast to a krell evo amplifier.
After the Evo series, I don´t know fore sure how good Krell is. A'm a little bit worried.

Krell works really well with krell...

The evo line was designed around the cast connections. I had golden reference cables also and they were my favorite cardas cable until the clear came out but i would still use the cast connections over the clear.

thank you for your answers. I will test the cast after purchasing the evo 202 etc.. However right now my biggest issue is how big the sound improvement will be between the HTS 7.1 run as pre-amp and the evo 202 ....

Hi

I have the 202 today and I am very pleased - but has anyone compared the 202 and the Evo Two?

I've had these preamps in my set:mark levinson 32,krell evo 202,pass labs xp20 and audio research ref 5 se.
The krell evo 202 was the most honest of these in my set.
With honest I mean that the krell 202 is faithful to the source.
The 202 adds nothing and leave nothing out.
Thats how a preamp has to be:yes:

I have had my Krell EVO 202 för many years. Now it's running my Gryphon Amp. I think 202 doing a great job. I'v heard it i som other set up's and I like it. Maybe one of the best products from Krell ever.

But I can't help thinking about what would happen if I use a Gryphon Preamp
instead? Synergi?
Perhaps Gryphon end Krell works very well together? Yes they do, but better than Gryphons own pre-amp???
