Any recent news about a CD Transport?
I reached out to them yesterday to ask if they were still working on the Urd or something similar and the reply was..."we are unable to discuss new products and/or upgrades/updates before release."...and suggested I join the mailing list.
It may be wishful thinking on my part, but sounds like a transport could still be in the works. |
They have been working on the "Urd" transport for a couple of years but have not given any updates in some time. As best as we know it is coming, but with supply chain issues and the reality of the current day it's hard to know when to expect it. I've been keeping an eye out for it myself.

Naturally I jumped over to another forum and found an update: Schiit is trying to get a shipment of transports from the manufacturer. Another conversation is slated for this week. My guess is they have tested the transport already and need the manufacturer to send them a bunch.

Some good news: the Urd transport manufacturer responded (most likely it was a miscommunication on our side.) So it looks like Urd will proceed! Timeline TBD... |

Are you at liberty to share a link to this other forum...perhaps in a PM? If not, no worries, I'll stay tuned here. |
The URD is up on the site and they are now taking orders.
I will be ordering a silver one soon! |
Fantastic, thanks for the heads up!

Frank Sumatra… Welcome to AA!

I like the concept. Digital only. Have not spun a CD for music playback since 2012. Hmmm.

https://www.head-fi.org/threads/schi...#post-17642459 PS- Ordered one in black, I'm thinking a dedicated transport will outshine an old Oppo "plays-ever-silver-disc-known" in my system. |
Thanks for the info! I look forward to future reviews.

Looking forward to running the Urd AES into my old-school dac.
|
My silver URD ships out today...woo-hoo!
|
URD arrived last Wednesday and is breaking in as I type this. Right out of the box it sounds fantastic!
|
Breaking in nicely. About 200 hours on it so far.
|
I've had my URD since they first became available, connected via USB to YGGY 2 (special USB connection), and the combo is wonderful! I have an alll new CD collection.
|
I too have an all new cd collection. I'm running mine AES into my old school Cal Audio Labs Alpha DAC (OG) and it is simply sublime.
First thing I noticed was the bass. Full, tight and deep. That's the result of being a life-long bassist I guess. |
I bought an Audiolab 6000CDT a few years ago, so I could listen to CD's once in awhile, it was a nice improvement over my previous cd player, I still do not find I use it all that often though. Seems like vinyl or digital hard drive/streaming takes up most of my listening time.
Too many options I guess. |
