MC-312 and .3mv Ortofon MC Cart.

Hello

I have a C-49 preamp on order. Curious if the internal phono stage has enough gain to maintain equal gain when selecting across inputs. I do not see a trim adjustment for the MC phono stage input. Hopefully there is some one else with a similar output cartridge which they have tried on the C-49.

Thanks in advance!

Although I don’t have that exact combo; I highly doubt the internal phono stage will have enough gain, for unity gain throughout all inputs.

Thanks for the reply.
I was hoping I would not have to use one of the 3 unbalanced inputs with my phono stage. Will give it some thought. I may have to consider using an SUT or use a balanced to rca cable. Not sure if I would be a fan of an SUT on top of already investing in the phono stage.

Ranges - Do you really care what the gain is from input-to-input? Are you wanting to match volume on the various inputs so when you switch from one to another it is essentially the same? Check the owner's manual under "Trim Functions", page 20. This allows the owner to set various functions which may meet your needs for each of the selected inputs, including both MM & MC. May do what you want.

I disagree. Digital is considerably more complex, takes more gear to do well and still does not match vinyl for superior SQ. Plus, the digital format continues to change (MQA, etc.), requiring additional/different gear, etc.
But, beauty is in the ear of the beholder.
