What is Your Oldest Audio Component?
What is the oldest audio equipment in your system(s)?
I will start this off first: 1952 Western Electric JW 2C51 preamp tubes http://www.audioaficionado.org/membe...-396a-tube.jpg Roger |
Roger.......I don't want to take the wind out of your sail, but vacuum tubes are not audio components in and of themselves. Heck, I have a few 1898 real silver dollars I could probably have extruded into a digital interconnect. :D

Roger.......My oldest audio component is my Micro Seiki DD-40 turntable and m505A tonearm. I bought it new 34 years ago and still use it daily. I have a new Ortofon Cadenza Blue cartridge that will be mounted on it in a few days, the very first moving coil cartridge to ever be mounted on my m505A tonearm in all those years.

I still have a pair of Ohm E speakers and a Vector Research tuner from 1976. Sadly, the Rotel integrated amp died.

This 1945 Vintage AM/SW radio, sympathetically restored. The Rola loudspeaker sounds great. It is a smooth radio. My only gripe...no FM!

Dan, Nice TT--I alway felt that Micro Seiki made some impressive and beautiful looking turntables.
Steve, nice looking restoration on your vintage radio. |
My oldest now is a technics DV9 class a amp , what a powerhouse from the very early 80's , it's been retired now , but really was incredible driving the Bose 901's I used to have, it was a rock and roll amp and not really audiophile to today's standards

I still have the Marantz 1030 Integrated amp that I bought in 1972. I was proud as a Peacock the day it arrived, a big achievement for me at age 14.

An AR XA turntable c. 1969. It was my dad's last table and now sits in my workshop awaiting restoration. I still remember as a teenager how cool I thought it was when he bought it along with the Sansui receiver and AR speakers, 2ax's I think.

My oldest components that I am still using would be my Hafler 945 and 9180 combo. I still use them today but in the scope of things, they are not that old. Late 80s...
