My Last Speakers (Really, no BS😐)

Ok, it’’s going to either Canton’s older 295 lb. Reference 1K’s that Ivan really liked, or their newer 178 lb. 2023 Reference 1’s.

If any of you have been fortunate enough to hear both, I’d love to hear your thoughts. I’m inclined to purchase the Reference 1K (2015) as its two 308mm woofers can move 32% more air than the three 219mm woofers in the Reference 1. This is important to me as I REALLY want to get rid of the two subwoofers in my system.

I guess the bass could be good on the 2023 Reference 1 as the posted bass response specs are identical (18Hz - 40kHz). But since the older 2015 1K has more bass radiator area, it will push more air and perhaps allow me to ditch my subs.

Please share your thoughts with me.

Thanks.

+1. Looking forward to any reviews on the new Ref series. Was very happy with my Ref 9K.

Haven’t seen any new reviews on new Reference 1s. Perhaps after the Florida Audio Show, fellow AA attendees can share their feedback if Canton Reference lines are represented.

I spoke to Canton's NA distributor and was told they have no plans to have Canton represented at either the FL show or AXPONA this year.
My nearest Canton dealer has a pair of the older 7K to audition and stated they have no plans to bring in any of new Ref line.

I can probably shed some light on both. Sales are quite brisk, even sight and heard unseen.

I personally bought the following speakers unheard in no special order;

Aerial 7T’s / 20T’s v2
Bryston Model T’s Passive & Active
Dali Epicon line
Canton Ref 1, 2, 3, 7, 9
Auditors, Futura’s, Strad’s & Aida’s
TAD CR-1 MKII’s, R1 MKII’s
McIntosh XRT 2K’s (although, I heard a very early prototype)

Well, that is disappointing news. How do you announced and launched a flagship line but don’t have models for dealers and shows for demos. Just speculation, maybe Canton is focusing on their EU market.

Canton is the World’s oldest speaker manufacturer. In addition they do focus on the EU and World Market (excluding the USA) which is a rather small market for them.

That said, my dozen sales or so are all for customers. My demo’s will simply have to wait for now.

Thank you, Ivan!

Vinyl Rules!, hopefully the new owners will have some initial impressions on the Reference 2023.

I will be filling all my existing orders throughout this year on all the new models (this way my customers won’t have to wait as long)

Once all my orders are filled, I will keep a few new models for demo; later this year.
