Sony HAP-Z1ES

I have the new Sony HAPZ1ES 1TB Hi-Res Music Player System coming shortly. I'll be posting my pics and listening impressions once it arrives.

Ivan.......It will be interesting to see if Sony expands on the design of this component in the future with a digital coaxial output for use with an external DAC and a USB asynchronous input for direct file playback from a laptop. This and an internal transport for ripping to the hard drive would increase the Sony HAPZ1ES appeal for many audio enthusiasts including me.

Dan I've looked at this unit many times over the last few weeks, and I agree. If it allowed at least USB asynchronous from an external computer then i probably would have ordered one already. I have no problems using a PC with a media player installed, but when I play digital files I still would like to have an experience of using a CD player for example. I'm really interested in hearing about the user interface. Looking forward HAPZ1ES pics.

Agree, Dan. But I wouldn't hold my breath. Sony may feel they have the DAC ground covered sufficiently with their $800 DA1S/B DAC/amplifier, which includes coax and Toslink inputs as well as async USB.

I've read the user manual for the HAPZ1ES, and can't easily determine if the "DSD Remastering Engine" can be disabled, or if all the files, FLAC, AIFF, and etc) are converted to DSD.

Look forward to the pics, and impressions.

At the current I believe everything is remastered. I have read they plan yo put out a FW to give the option

These are surprisingly very heavy units; I just took them off the pallet. :)

Don't suppose you can get a 240V version? :) Sony's not selling it in Australia or in Asia.
