JL Audio Fathom f110 repair options

I have a pair of f110 v1 subs. I had one of them failed on me. I took it to a JL Audio rep and they gave me three options. Here are the choices they gave me. I know the cha-ching sound.... but just asking if I'm missing the bigger picture?
I left the options prices off on purpose.

1.) Repair the broken sub.
2.) Update both subs with new drivers and repair the broken sub.
3.) Update both subs from v1 to v2.

What had failed?

If it is the driver and the sub, and option 3 if they are doing a good deal to trade in, may be cost effective. Plus option 3 gets new warranty plus more reliable amp

In the failed sub was tied to a circuit board failure.

Recently had my 10+ years old pair of F110 recapped by the Canadian authorised distributor, Gemsen Electronics, Concord Ontario.
JL provides a kit consisting around 10 capacitors for each sub.
Both subs would clip very easily and emitted a buzzing sound with no signal applied, and above all, the base was hard sounding and painful, as if someone is rubbing sand paper on my ears.
All of the above is now corrected, both subs puts out equal pressurization and plays base to my full enjoyment without any pain.
I am so glad Gemsen help me out and will re-cap again within the next 5-7 years.
