New V16 VS Triton V1

Has anyone been able to compare a Triton V1 to the new Venom V16?

Are you open to "recollections" from "long-term memory" rather than a direct "side by side"?

'Cause I used to own a Triton V1 and I've had the Venom V16 here for quite a while, but it's presently not "in-house" as its on loan to an audio buddy.

Sure, if you have heard both, I am sure you have a pretty good idea on the sonics.

The Triton V1 was a breakthrough in it's day, but the current Venom V16...smokes it.

While I noticed a nice improvement in audio quality with the Triton V1, the improvement with the V16 is quite a bit more noticeble. While they both provided the same actual number of noise reduction, 24dB, the new V16 seems quieter to me. Also, the presentation is fuller, weightier-sounding, more dynamic with greater immediacy, and more "fleshed-out" 3-dimensionally. Also, my power amp would hum without a cheater plug when plugged into my Triton V1, it does not with the Venom V16.

Plus the V16 has a ground post for use with Shunyata's GP-NR ground plane noise-reduction system, which will notaby reduce noise on the ground plane of component(s) attached to it. Preamps and DACs, streamers, etc. are a great component to connect to it, for example. Also, the outlets grab ahold of the plug prongs MUCH more tightly.

Thanks for the info. Will start looking for a V16 to replace my 6000 S/2. Downsizing, and I figure power is a good place to start. I had a Triton V1, thought it was pretty good, just wasn't thrilled about going back.

Nice to hear the V16 helps that issue. Grip is important. It was because of that I ended up overhauling my power cord setup a few years ago. The ones I used before would at times sag enough that the connection would be lost, usually at the component end. Frustrating. That led to the Transparent/Shunyata combo I have now. No sags. And whatever else one thinks of PS Audio power cords, "vise" is the perfect description of how they grip.
