Hi, I am looking for a full range bipolar or dipole with built-in bass amp to replace 15 years old Definitive BP2000 as a side channels in home theater set up. 1. I am thinking of Montis, how loud can it go? Will it break up when sound of jet fly by comes in loudly? 2. Anybody use it as a surround channel? 3. Also looking at EFX to replace Definitive BPX as back surround channels too. Amplifier to drive Montis is Proceed HPA3 with 500w at 4 ohm, the one to drive EFX is Marantz MM7025. Thanks Toga

Ok, seem like I am the one who has this experience.
ESL make very transparent sound and highly detailed. powered bass is also strong and tuneful. BUT, they are very very beaming and demanding regarding set up. toe angle is
critical, as a side surround tonality change a lot when moving head fore-aft in a factor of one foot.
But if set up well enough I can recommend it for this duty. Don't believe what you see in many set up as most will not work as well as it looked, due to very narrow dispersion.
Toga
