CBS Adele Concert Sound

Anyone have a look at this concert on CBS last night? What did you think of the sound? I had the sense it was way up on low bass and very short in the voice frequency area with Adele sounding a bit like she was wearing an N95 mask (ok, not that bad but in that direction.) I had my voicing set for Music and only when I set it for News did it improve but not to where it should be. My rough standard is say, a Sarah Vaughn or Ella record/CD etc. This all coincides with other CBS shows such as 60 minutes which is also way bass heavy if you don't adjust for it.

The other thing I wondered about is how they got a studio sound outdoors and I am tempted to conclude that the concert was post recorded for TV broadcast.

Watched until Oprah started the interview (after one song). Couldn't decide who was worse so turned it off. Couple of whining, vapid nobodies. Waste of time. Waste of a nice voice who could likely do well on some actual music rather than self-pitying crap she sings. Obviously, YMMV.

She cannot sing to save herself.

Lyrics that a 12-year-old can write.

Why would anybody listen to this junk?

There is so much fabulous music out there for you to discover.

I like a handful of her tracks. I sure beats the boring crap by the likes of Sade, Patricia Barber or Diana Krall. :boring:

We all like and dislike many different types of music and artists.

Let’s move on.

Well, I did watch a few minutes but it was on a Sonos system, so no comments on the sound quality……I will say, she looks great after her weight loss and she has some really good hair.

I think it's the hype what rubs people the wrong way. I mean why so much fuss about
her new album? Many artists are releasing new albums specially after everyone was
shut down for a year. If anyone likes her stuff, then buy it and it's all good.

The star of the show was the Griffith Observatory. The cinematographer did a really nice job, and the lighting was pretty dramatic along with the sunset. Adele sounded ok. Good overall frequency balance. I did not notice what the OP did but I don’t use any voicing. Some moderate processing with all wireless mics, which IMO don’t sound as good as a direct connection. There was some gain pumping going on that was obvious. I’m guessing that was caused by processing gear at the local cbs affiliate or at DISH but I don’t know for sure. Local station processing can also cause some of the issues the OP noted. I did not notice overhyped bass.

I always find her studio recordings quite harsh

But the BluRay Live album was quite well recorded. You just had to sit through half the video where she whinges about an ex but the recording and her voice makes up for that.

While she is known for her song writing, I actually like her cover versions of Make You Feel My Love and Lovesong more than her compositions
