Wow, thats going back a bit. My first real system was Garrard 301 turntable with an SME3009 arm and Shure V15 mk2 cartridge. A Leak Varislope preamplifier with Leak Stereo 20 power amplifier. Wharfdale Teesdale speakers.
The music was good but I wouldn't call it high-end by any means to todays standards.

NAD 3020 and ADC turntable... used to listen via headphones until I could scrape up enough to purchase speakers.
