Progression Integrated Amp

1 Attachment(s)
Happy brand owner and supporter, however, while the new Progression Integrated is feature rich, IMO it lacks in aesthetics.

audioguy3107 05-09-2019 03:06 PM

I agree Ed, for as beautiful as the Momentum series is, I’m not a fan with how the Progression series looks. I think the amplifiers are OK but not a fan of the preamp and you’re right, that integrated is......

This might be the first piece in the Progression series that I don't find attractive at first glance. I withhold final judgement until I see it in person.

Antonmb 05-09-2019 03:32 PM

Yes, my first reaction was not positive, but maybe it looks better in person.

Yes, I do like the Progression amps and would have bought these but they were too big for how I have them set up.

I’m not crazy about the pre, but I do agree on final judgement seeing this one in person.

Maybe it’s better in black for photos?

Beauty being in the eye of the beholder........... I find it to be the best looking piece from the current range of D'Agostino gear. Go figure.

SOA 05-11-2019 06:22 PM

I saw it in Munich today. Unfortunately it does not look better in person. Very dissapointed of the Progression Integrated aesthetics🙁

Masterlu 05-11-2019 07:47 PM

Not a fan either of the looks

FDPDK 05-12-2019 02:52 PM

Im also not a fan of the look.

Allman779 08-18-2019 10:22 AM

Has this been released?

King 10-18-2019 04:54 PM

It is not released yet.

I was attending local hifi show in Melbourne Australia and the amp was shown as prototype, power was on but no components inside.

The heatsink seems similar used in Relentless. From the back side, we can see DAC/Phono/Streamer function could be an option on this amp.

Not sure what zone 1 zone 2 for?

I like the looks of it better up close. One way or another, it’s a great solution for getting into the line without going for the separates. I bet it’ll sound great.

Has anyone had a chance to hear it, or has purchased one? I'm probably going to go see if my local guys have one in to demo, but the few reviews I've seen have been favorable. I'm particularly interested in impressions about the DAC and phono stage options.

I have one for a month, to drive my Sabrina X.
The progression Int replaced my gryphon diablo 300.
It has dead background, higher resolution, more emotional midrange and more extended high. However the bass does not realy “rock” for some kind of music. I need high volume enough to make it come alive.
It looks great anyway :smoking:

Thanks, that's very helpful. I did go in to my local dealer, but unfortunately the Progression Integrated had an issue and is out for repair. They also recently became a MOON by SimAudio dealer, and I'm investigating the MOON 700i V2 (though they only have separates and the lower end integrateds). I'm going to be upgrading my digital source sometime in the future, and am thinking of either the dCS Bartok, MOON 780D V2, or the Linn Klimax DSM (with Katalyst architecture). If I go the Linn route I might also consider the Linn Klimax Twin amp. I did a quick listen to the Linn combo and was impressed enough that I'm going to borrow the Bartok, DSM and Twin for an in home demo with my Wilson Sasha 2's.

Hi Belancer,

What is Your opinion about its DAC module, is it worth a price tag and how it compares with Your mighty dCS Bartok in the case of lets say Tidal streaming function ?

Hi, mine does not have Dac module so can't compare it to the bartok.
I dont think a dac module come close to a dedicated dac, in term of SQ and software (controller app) convenience.

Thanks for reply.
Here in Europe famous German HiFi magazine STEREOPLAY ranked SQ as follows: Analog 62 / Streaming 64 / USB 63

This amp is Amazing with the Focal Sopra N.3's ! Match made in Audio Heaven !

This Progression Integrated is a lot smaller and weighs a lot less than the latest Relentless amp but it has more in common than you might expect !

Listened to this amp today, hooked up to a pair of Wilson Sasha's.

Got to admit that I was blown away!

My mate played 'Blue Moon' sung by Julie London on a streamer /DAC (he is not into vinyl).

OMG I've NEVER listened to a 3 dimensional soundstage as focused yet expansive as what I heard there. I didn't want it to end.

The only issue was that he was overloading his small listening room, so the bass was a bit overpowering (he likes that!), and that's the rooms fault.

Also, the amp looks a bit over the top in photos, but in real life, it looked fabulous.

The quality of the construction was 1st rate. You cannot help patting it like its your favourite cat. Even my friend who was with me, who normally hates the look of high end audio gear, loved the amp.

I want one!

Unfortunately, those #'s have little meaning for those of us who do not read Stereoplay as we don't know if they rate other high-end integrated amps in the 60's or 70's or.........?

70 is maximum, if I recall well.
Above 60 is excellent.
The best ones get 64-68.

Thanks Bart!
