It would also pay to listen to both cables using your LCD-4’s. And not just because I happen to own a set. :)

Ok, for starters I have many headphones; maybe a dozen or more. All of them came with el cheapo headphone cables. I have already replaced everyone of them with Cardas Clear headphone cables; the difference in performance has always been profound.

I do still have a few sets of WW Platinum Nano headphone cables for Audeze, which are also very good. WW stopped making them, so this thread will focus on comparing both the Cardas Clear and WW Platinum Nano 8 headphone extension cables.

Both cables measure 3.0M in length, and are extremely flexible and very well made.

At first I listened to my Meze Empyrean with the Platinum extension cable listening to The Rippingtons ~ Miles Away.

It sounded extremely good, with a well defined sound stage, superb Bass, detail and presence. While listening to the same track, I quickly switched to the Cardas Clear Extension cable.

I quite honestly was not really surprised that I preferred the Cardas Clear cable over the Platinum Nano.

Maybe, it’s just better synergy with the Cardas headphone cable too. The Cardas cable exhibited more smoothness, without lacking in any other area. Simply put, they are downright intoxicating. Regardless, this is my new favorite for headphone listening.

It’s also interesting to note the Cardas Clear 3.0M extension cable retails for less at $790 vs $950 for WW Platinum 8 Nano 3.0M extension cable.

More to come later, when I perform the same experiment with my Audeze LCD-4.
