Lumagen
When will the next model be out?
I would like to have 4K pass through. |
Look for something late summer to early fall!

Hello, I have a question. I'm looking at the Radiance 2144 manual, and haven't found anything saying that 4K is a selectable output resolution. Does the 2144 communicate with the TV and output the resolution it prefers? My current iScan Duo does that, and it looks like the 2144 does as well. Thanks.

Curious as to whether anyone with a 4K TV uses one of these. My iScan Duo is misbehaving, and I may need to consider replacing it with a Radiance 2144 or just go straight into my Kuro. The two BD players will be fine in that case, but the cable box and LD player may take a PQ hit; the LD will based on experience, mainly in the blacks. But if I get a 4K TV, probably Sony's OLED (better processing than the LG I thought, though the LG's color is better), would the Lumagen be redundant? That's something I also consider.

I am currently using a Radiance Pro 4446 in Cape Cod. Simply Awesome Video performance! Lumagen has also just become our Newest Sponsor on AA.

Lumagen is by far the best scaler on the market imo!

I let my Lumagen’s do all the heavy lifting, framing, aspect ratios, geometry, full color calibration, Darbee enhancement etc from each source to screen.

Problem solved, apparently. The Duo wouldn't respond to the power button on the remote suddenly, and I had to turn the unit on and off manually; a factory reset solved things for a few days and then the problem returned. Everything else worked fine. I dug out the remote from my previous Duo and things are working normally. Perhaps I sat on the original remote and damaged the power button? It doesn't feel any different. Oh well.
This turn of events doesn't remove the Lumagen from my radar, however, as I downloaded the manual. That's not good for my peace of mind (or my wallet) . . . |
I have a question about the Lumagen's. Can these units allow you to mix and match audio & video HDMI streams from different sources? For example say I want to listen to some digital music files on my NAS through my Oppo 205 but I don't want to sit there and stare at a static screen, can I combine the video signal from my PVR and watch tv while listening?

I wonder how something like a Lumagen would compare to the latest OLED 4K TVs, especially a Sony with regard to VP quality. Sony is known for their video processing acumen. Also with regard to the latest chips in 4K blu-ray players (thinking the Pioneer LX-500 in particular). I also note that the Lumagen website lists only 2 current models, both lacking analog inputs (component and s-video). Looks like anyone with legacy connections (component and s-video) would be in trouble, unless they could score an older model that has them.
Just curious. Is there anything else out there besides Lumagen at this point? |
Does anyone have an opinion on Lumagen vs MadVR Envy?
