Is it worthwhile to add a TEAC CG-10M master clock to an Esoteric K-01Xs?
Hi folks-
My system already sounds great. I live on a farm without streaming access (only satellite cable), although I can download high res files at the University Medical School. I mostly listen to CDs, the best ones are well-mastered ones of any type, followed by K2HD and its variants and SACDs. SACDs sound somewhat better on a Vivaldi One that I borrowed from a friend, but not by much. I know that asking about CDs on this forum this is antiquated! I believe that Esoteric is owned by TEAC, but I could be wrong. In any case, TEAC has a 10 MHz audiophile OCXO reference clock generator that is relatively inexpensive. It is compatible with my K-01Xs player. Does anyone know if that would improve my already great sounding system? Thank-you in advance - Gerry |
Gerry... I don’t have time right now, but will chime in later.

I have added a Clock to an Esoteric Grandioso K1 and I felt it made a significant and worthwhile difference if that helps. I only spin shiny discs too. I would go for it.

Yes a 10 Mhz master clock would improve your sound quality. Search for all the posts on this subject and also those with the keyword "Cybershaft" for a lot of good reading....

Do we know if the TEAC clock is ‘better’ than the clock in a K-01Xs?
Don’t forget the Clock to DAC cable is VERY important. |

OCXO is superior to VCXO approaches regardless of the ppb/ppm long term stability specs which are a red herring for audio... |

Hi Ivan-
As always, thank you for your sage advice. Kind regards - Gerry |
Gerry, While it won’t have the aesthetic of an Esoteric Clock, take a look at the Cybershaft thread suggested here by Mark (SCAudiophile). I sold my G02 to buy a Cybershaft and am extremely pleased with that switch.
