Outdoor speakers
Today I pulled my Speakercraft OE6 Three speakers down for a spring cleaning and discovered the surrounds are starting to crack. At the time I bought these, I was looking at JBL Control 31’s, but decided to get the Speakercrafts. These aren’t bad at a distance of 10 feet, but are boomy closer up - probably placement more than the speaker. I’m feeding them with an older 120 watt Sony ES home theater receiver.
Anyway, I’m looking for suggestions for replacements. Lots of suggestions for outdoor speaks from several years back, but nothing lately. :scratch2: |
The Sonance Mariners are really good. Available in three sizes. I have them in four outdoor zones and have been very pleased with how they sound.

Thanks Rance, I’ll check them out.

Well I finally stopped procrastinating and bought a pair of Klipsch AW-650’s. $295 on Amazon.
They sound solidly better all the way around. Descent bass and much better mids and highs. Best of all, the boominess is mostly gone. I should’ve upgraded to these a long time ago. Breaking them in right now while enjoying a cigar and a bourbon. https://www.audioaficionado.org/atta...2&d=1623197066 Attachment 64862 |
Well played!

It turns out SpeakerCraft have either a 10 year or a lifetime warranty, depending on when you purchased them. They’re replacing mine free of charge. I’ll wind up giving them to my brother.
