Question for Audeze LCD 4(z) + Roon users

I currently enjoy an Audeze LCD XC. Out of the box it sounds great...but the Roon DSP preset has most definitely elevated the performance to a level I did not think possible with a closed back planar headphone.

Now there is this itch to explore the LCD 4 or LCD 4z. However most reviews highlight a peculiar frequency response in the mids and treble. I was wondering if the Roon DSP preset for the LCD 4 or 4z addresses this unusual frequency response.

Thank you for sharing any thoughts or experiences.

I tried the Roon presets with the various Audeze headphones I had. They typically fell in range with my liking. Of course you can also accomplish quite a bit with DSP and EQ yourself as well.

The LCD-4 is a great set. Some say they are a bit laid back and even more so than the LCD-3 but I personally did not find that to be the case. I thought they offered just a bit more neutrality over the very sweet sounding LCD-3.

Make sure to audition with a variety of amps because Audeze headphones and their performance can vary quite a bit amp depending.

Also take a look here. They will sound quite a bit different than LCD XC closed set.

There is a curve comparison chart where you can see the difference you can expect.

I have had LCD-X's for a couple years now but literally just upgraded to LCD-4's (just got them today). So while I have open backs, I might be able to shed some light on what you are looking for... :)
