PC buys his first Chronograph!

While I've traditionally been a "3-hander" kinda guy, just bought my first chronograph: the Seiko, ref. SSC813 triple-register chronograph. Been wanting one of these since they were first launched into the market, but for the latter part of the last 18 months or so, they've been "unobtainium", including from the JDM resellers.

Finally snagged a new one at a great price.

Here's some pics....

Thanks. Been wanting to buy one for some time now, but from the day they were launched, Seiko could not keep production up to meet the customer demand.

Reminds me of the Moonswatch that Swatch released last year...

Great looking watch! Glancing through the Seiko Prospex line, very tempting and won’t break the bank.

Agreed. I've been really loving mine. I've recently seen them for sale just under $500. They are solar-powered so they'll run accurately without needing a service for a long time.

When they were first released they were dubbed the "Seitona" for their resemblance to the Rolex Daytona, and man, you could not buy one anywhere. It was this situation for about the first >12 or so months after they were released, and now they are actually becoming readily available.

Same situation happened with another member of the Seiko Prospex line, the now-legendary Seiko SPB143.

Here's a pic of mine, which is actually a JDM reference of the SPB143, known as the reference SBDC101.

The SPB143, like the Sinn 556A is what watchonistas call a "strap monster". :D While I have the OEM Seiko bracelet for mine, I pretty much only wear it on a NATO strap, and with the neutral anthractie gray brushed dial, it works really with pretty much any color. I will never sell mine.

On another note, recently snagged this G-Shock GM2100CB-3A. It's metal-cased version of the very popular GA2100 "CasiOak" series. I wear it when I'm out riding the racing bicycle because I don't worry about as I would with a mechanical if I happen fall or crash while on the bicycle (whch I did pretty hard about 18 months ago, after the front wheel hit a thin metal rail on the trail).

Congratulations. Great looking watch! I wish I was younger. But I gave up my Seiko Astron a few years ago (it sits in my dressing room window ledge… so it stays charged) for an Apple Watch… fall detector, EKG, heart monitor, phone… after 65, I just couldn’t justify, just pretty.

Pooh.

The NATO strap is cool, I might have to get one now.
