MC207 does not power on
My MC207 does not power on. It is used for the center and the four surround speakers and zone B for the porch speakers. When the system is off, the standby red light is on. When I turn on the system the standby light turns off and the MC207 does not power up. When the system is off and I have the right knob on "remote" the red standby light is lit but when I turn the knob to "on" the standby light goes off but the unit does not power on. I have one by one disconnected each speaker to see if the sentry guard is preventing power up but no change. I am preparing to ship to Audio Classics for repair but thought good to ask you smart people what you suggest. Thanks, Jim

Have you attempted an recent firmware update or perhaps suffered an electrical surge? It almost sounds as though the unit is somehow bricked.
|
Jim… clearly sounds like a power supply issue. Did you check the internal fuse? Does this amp connect direct to the wall outlet, or any surge protected power unit?
|
Thanks Ivan. I tried direct to the 20 amp wall outlet and no change. Did not think of an internal fuse. I went ahead and sent on a pallet through a freight carrier to Audio Classics. I also sent the C28 and MC 2105 for cleaning since I figured would not cost that much more to send. Will check in again when I learn more.

Keep us posted please on the outcome.

Audio Classics repaired and back in business but it is now boxed in storage in Charlotte.

Great news, did they mention the cause of the problem?

It was the power side of things. Sorry but when I boxed up the 207 to place in storage I put the paperwork in with it. May be 6 to 8 months before I open back up and get everything set up again. Will post then. Thanks for asking.
