For 2019 I made no significant changes to the system. I have however started 2020 not with a change but an addition. In the past I’ve had a Bob’s Device CineMag 1131 SUT. And while I like what I did I didn’t like it’s light weight and limited flexibility. What I really wanted was something with more flexibility. With the MFA I have three gain options 1:5, 1:10, and 1:20 and six load options 10-20-30-40,80K and O/C ( O/C is an open circuit. The cartridge will see the transformers load divided by the transformers ratio squared. For example the 1:10 ratio the cart will see the input impedance of the phono stage (often 47K) divided by 100 ( 10 squared) giving a load to the cartridge in this example of 470 ohms.
This should serve me well for a long time and it’s built like a tank :) https://www.audioaficionado.org/atta...0&d=1579407262 . Attachment 61170 |

The MFA is one of the best SUTs out there. I’m a bit fascinated with SUTs. I’m beginning to collect them. They are like tubes, lots of different flavors and colorations. I liken the MFA to Siemens tubes. Very clean and extended with little coloration. The bass is true and not exaggerated. High Resolution.
Btw, I sold it to you. Glad you are enjoying it! |
