Pro-Ject Xtension 9 Evolution

Hey Guys....any opinions here on the Pro-Ject Xtension 9 Evolution turntable? I've had my eye on the Pro-Ject line for some time, and this particular table strikes my fancy. Any thoughts?

I listened to one about a year ago and really liked it, but I want the Xtension 10 with 10" arm. Plus the larger platter, one negative on it though is the platter size the motor takes some time to get up to speed.
I think these tables punch above their weight class.....

Bought one for my son some years back. Honestly I was more impressed with the entry level Clearaudio I also had on hand.

Thanks guys....I appreciate your thoughts.

Catcher10...I too have been finding my eyes drifting over to the Xtension 10 also. I have read that the larger platter does take a bit of time to get up to speed, but I don't see this as a huge big deal.

Serge....
I like the Clearaudio tables too. I have to confess that the cosmetics of these Pro-ject tables carry a pretty strong allure with me. With the amount of wood I have in and around my system (notably in the turntable area), I can't help but think that the beautifully finished wood plinths on these tables would look stunning in my system.

My plan would likely include an Ortofon Cadenza Black, with a Pro-ject Tube Box DS2 to mate the MC cartridge with my McIntosh C40 Preamp.

It is a good looking table  Sound wise it was a bit dynamically challenged to the clearaudio and had a slightly darker and murkier presentation overall. However, as we all know, cartridges, setup, phono stages and the rest of the gear come into play big time and especially with analog. To generalize on the sound of any particular setup and for it to hold true can only be applied within the context of an A/B comparison of the same system. Go with what you think will bring you the most satisfaction aesthetically as well as sonically.

They do seem a very good value, and I've seen quite a few good reviews on their higher end tables.

Since the Xtension 10 with the 10" arm was mentioned, I thought I'd put a picture up of that one too. I have to admit, I have trouble taking my eyes off it...

If the 10 strikes your fancy, here's a video on it. Even though I bought a SOTA Sapphire, I still think about the Pro-Ject Xtension 10.

Charles....I have seen this video already, it's another part of what's been pushing me more in the direction of the 10....

Think you will be most pleased with your choice of the Cadenza Black, regardless of which TT you go with. It is my favorite cartridge at the moment.

Glenn....I had the pleasure of auditioning the Cadenza Black at our late friend Dan's place several times. It sounded fabulous....sublime, detailed, smooth, dynamic. Very impressive indeed.
