Esoteric SACD New or Preowned
 

I have recently sold my Cary 303T SACD and I am considering Esoteric. Would like to get an opinion on buying the new X model or previous K model. Specifically a preowned K03 or new K05X. Comments greatly appreciated.

Unless you want to pass DSD from a server to your Esoteric, a non "X" model is a huge bang for buck deal. You can get K-01s now for less than half of list. My K-01 sounds as glorious as it did when it was the state of the art.

Thanks chessman. I will only be playing cd's and sacd's. Thinking of a K03.

I have owned the K03 and now K01. Get the K01 if you can afford it. It's significantly better.

Funny, I'm about to dust off my portable ac unit here in Seattle!

I bought a gently used K03 (about 9 months old) for slightly more than half-price and I love it! The improvement over both my Sony 5400ES and Oppo 105 are staggering! It's built like a tank, too, and should last a long time.
