Forgot to mention prefer class ab with a bit class a

You shouldn't discard class D.
Like NAD M33, and the Lyngdorf above. I heard the Purifi Eigentakt modules also used in the NAD. They're top! Class AB: Hegel (H390 and even H590 fit your budget, and they have a good DAC), Luxman, Accuphase, Naim, AVM,... |
I'm using a 70 WPC Conrad-Johnson LP70S with excellent results.

Not personally, but heard only good things about them. All from trusted sources that had experience with the brand. |

I've had excellent results with several amplifiers to drive a pair of Harbeth 30.1 35th Anniversary:
with the fast/articulate Swiss Goldmund Telos 280 (Class AB) * with the richly textured American Pass Labs XA30.8 (Class A) * with the charming vintage French Jadis DA 8 (PP 6550) * with the precise yet delicate German T+A V10 (PP EL509/EC99/ECL82) with the holographic and detailed Chinese Line Magnetic LM-845P (SET 845/300B/310A) With the latest being my current favourite combo, but that can change regularly :) * in the case of Power Amps they are mated with a Nagra Jazz Preamp (Class A 12AX7/12AT7) or an Ayon Stealth DAC/Preamp (6H30/6Z4). Since you don't listen to hard rock/heavy metal, a nice tube amp can be a good option too! Have you actually decided on an amp yet? Best, Joel |
M30.2 are fantastic speakers just like the other harbeths.
I had great success driving them with VAC tube integrated amp Sigma 160i, Mcintosh MA252, Mcintosh MC302 power amp, Mcintosh MC275. Accuphase integrated amps Class A and Class AB. Peachtree Audio Nova 150 and Nova 300. They are not choosy speakers... Good quality amps these days can drive these Harbies beautiful. Nothing bad, all good.. Just a variety of flavours. |
