Good stuff, nice touch with the neon.
This should be real interesting as our rooms are usually the last thing we consider.
I have found that treating the room is such a huge upgrade compared to components, cabling ect. and it's cheaper.
Even a modest system can sound excellent with a few panels.

I agree! It is a very cheap investment for truly remarkable results.

Thank you Ivan for another nice forum. I only heard about GIK a week or two ago but since reading more about the company, I am interested in checking out what they can do for my room.

And welcome to AA, Alexander. It's so great to have a GIK company representative on AA. I'm going to ask for some help with my room acoustics later.

cheers,

I have Tri Traps, 2 stacked in each corner of the room. The room is 20x30x8. What would standing a GIK freestand GOBO in front of the Tri's do tho enhance bass absorbtion, better than a soffit?

Glenn Kuras 03-31-2014 09:29 AM

That really is hard to say. In same respects it would help help but I still would think the Soffit would outperform your idea.

Not sure if I should have diffusion or absorption on my ceiling in my basement. I have 6 GIK 242’s . Two on the side wall at first reflections and one behind each speaker. Bought the iCloud bracket, was going to put the two behind the speakers on the ceiling at first, but not sure as of now. I was thinking possibly 9 2’x2’ Styrofoam diffusers on ceiling reflection points. My basement room is 16’ x 37’.
I noticed my turntable Can’t seem to get isolated from high volumes. I want to add more GIK’s, not sure where else to put them.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Jim

Must be a dead end.

Why not communicate directly with Glenn at GIK?

Jim

The problem with your TT's isolation at high volumes is not due to insufficient room damping, its due to your TT, or the platform it's resting on, mechnically coupling to the acoustic energy in the room at higher volumes.

Put these under your turntable:

Thank you both for replying. I did buy and try the isolation pads under the turntable and I moved the turntable to two different locations. it must be the turntable or some of my records causing problems with my speaker cones spazzing out. I’m not getting any hum or feedback because I already tested the needle on the record with the record player off and the preamp on turning the volume up.

Also, I am curious. I know I should talk to GIK, I just thought he would read his own product on this thread. I ordered my GIK online so I never really spoke to anyone. I just went with what the reviews say to start out with. I was mainly wondering if the diffusers were good for ceilings in the first reflection point To break up the sound instead of absorbing. I will give Glen a call.

I’m just glad to hear from someone on this site.
thank you for noticing.

I think everyone's cones "spazz out"? Unless you have a rumble filter. I have my tt on an hrs platform and it still happens. Doesn't affect the sound.
