My Lawn Tractor Has Cut its Last Lawn
2 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys. My old Craftsman has bit the dust and I thought I might find a deal on an end of season model. My choices are as follows. John Deere X350, 42" deck.

My Lawn Tractor Has Cut its Last Lawn
I’ve had a John Deere X720 for about 12 years now. I have a 52” deck for an acre+ of lawn, a 48” snow thrower for a 300 ft driveway, and a tow-behind brush cutter for an acre field. The Deere has seen some pretty hard use but has worked flawlessly and never failed to start and get the job done. Good maintenance is always key of course - once a year I have the local Deere dealer pick it up and service it, for not a lot of money. “Nothing runs like a Deere.”[emoji41]

I also would give the nod to a John Deere, had Honda rider years ago (best tractor ever), then a Cub Cadet (ok), then a Kubota (not that great, very problematic) and now for 3 years a John Deere X570 (best tractor, built well and runs excellent)

I've always been a Green fan. My John Deere X590 has been absolutely trouble free for six years. Still on the original battery, belts and blades, and still performs flawlessly. Correct maintenance is crucial.

might adding to the conversation a bit late, but do not buy the consumer grade versions.
John Deere offers some really good mowers. also look at SCAG, Exmark or grasshopper.|| toro commercial also. |
Yes. Go to a John Deere dealer and not the big-box outlets, etc. The mass-market machines are quite different and built to a price-point.

Great point. What you get at Lowes is not the same as what you get from your local JD farm & tractor dealer. |

X728 here
Recommend the X7xx series. Pricey but you can pass it onto your kids unlike the craftsman et al

Ordered My New Lawn Tractor
On Friday I stopped to talk to the guys at the local Lawn Tractor shop. And after hearing about the delays last year in getting parts to even build the tractors, I went ahead and ordered the John Deere X350 with the 42" deck. He said as they come in he would just start at the top of the list and go down from there.

Interesting. Wonder how many chips a modern lawn tractor might have.
Could be the engine. Like my 1980 model John Deere, the X350 has a Kawasaki engine. Absolutely bullet-proof. |
We have 2.25 acres of very rough terrain. Lots of rocks. Been using a Cub Cadet XT1 for the last 6 years. Other than sharpening blades and fixing flat tires (big thorns), it has been trouble free.
