I'm a used speaker (deal) buyer and there are few speakers that are a better used value than canton (from what I've read). A bonus for buying but not for selling which is why i want to exercise some caution. I've gone through a battery of speakers on this journey, goldenear triton 2, ML 60xt, Zu essence, dyn s3.4. The dyns are the clear winner though there is something engaging to me about the martin logans just hate that they're so ubiquitous. I've read a bunch of Dynaudio Contour and Canton Vento comparisons and from my memory people (Europeans) seem to prefer the cantons. I've found 2 lcr packages for sale Canton 809DC+805c $1000 and Canton 890.2DC + 856.2C $2200. I feel the 809 is the far better/safer deal. Is the 890.2 package $1200 better? Or am I just chasing the dragon and should just be content with the Dyn Contour s3.4? They just seem a little laid back for me, though keep in my the 3 other speakers I've had in this house are ribbon tweeters. Time could be on my side with re: to the dyns. Thanks

Duke777. Become a subscriber to AAf and talk to Ivan about Canton speakers. He is a dealer and members here get his terrific pricing. Read some of the reviews on the Canton Reference line (including mine) and you may want to give them some serious thought.

Duke777, I think Glenn and I are on the same page here. Canton's are beautiful sounding speakers. Talk to Ivan first, before you make any firm decisions. It can't hurt.

Hello fellow AAs. I'm new in this forum. I have always found Canton an attractive speaker; however, it seems to me that Canton does not have small high efficiency speakers of 93db or more. I wonder how good it would be to drive a Canton speaker with a low power, 7 watt, class A, SET tube amp?

I was very pleased with my Ref 9K being pushed with 20wpc of Class A push-pull tubes. The Ref 8K, 7K & 5K are slightly more efficient (88 & 89db vs 87db with the 9K). 7wpc might work in a small space at low volume.

Hi Glenn, thanks for your feedback. I want to build up a good sound system around a small SET tube amp, probably a DecWare or an Inspire 300B-v. I've been looking for suitable speakers for those types of amps; Klipsch Heritage and Zu Audio, but for some reason I always end up looking for a Canton. I guess it's because it's an attractive speaker. My living room is 12'x16'...14' high ceiling.
