C1100 Tubes
Does anyone have experience rolling tubes in the C1100? I do not use the phono section. If so, what is recommended in terms of the type, producer and where to purchase. I understand many are satisfied with Gold Lion.

I've used the Gold Lions in my c2500 and preferred them to the stock tubes. If you do not use the phono section then there is no need to change the tubes associated.

I put Gold Lions in my C1100 but left the stock tubes in the phono section since I don't use them. I noticed some improvement with the GLs but not a dramatic improvement over the stock tubes. I liked the stock tubes but every little bit helps and the small GL tubes are not that expensive.

I rolled a complete new set of Gold Lion gold pin tubes in my C1100. I left them there for 50 hours and did not notice a difference. So I rolled the OEM tubes back in. That confirmed it. No difference to my ears. I’ll wait until the OEM tubes wear out and then replace them.

Thanks for input. Does not appear there is a compelling reason to tube roll for the C1100. Seems it could be more of a difference maker for the C2300-2600 pre amps.

When I rolled GL Gold Pins into my C 2300 there was a night and day difference in sound quality. Everything got better.
I don’t want to discourage you from trying different tubes in your C 1100 - you may find it’s a worthwhile upgrade. If not, you have a spare set of tubes which is not a bad thing. |
