I'm sure the special effects will be better but the 1976 version and that incredible cast is a classic.

Jim... my dad’s claim to fame. He was a chief radio operator, and stationed in the Pacific at that time.

He was the one that actually sent the message “Send Bombers to Midway”

That’s incredible, Masterlu. You must be proud.

I wonder, though, if you could update your dad’s message with “Divert to Persian Gulf”?

Hope my humor is not out of place.

Ron

+1 hopefully Hollywood won't do its typical over-glam and over-acting on the sequences to sensationalize this so as to keep respect for the heroic efforts and sacrifices made at this epic battle.

The '76 movie was great...agreed!

Thanks for sharing!

When I was running Submarines out of Pearl in the early 90’s, buildings on part of the base still hadn’t changed and you could see bullet holes on the fascia from December 7th.

That's family history to treasure.

Both great stories...

Finally saw this last night - a mixed bag for me: the “hero” acting and dialog were pretty cheesy and over the top at times, but the action sequences were excellent.
