Esoteric K-03 number two

Esoteric has won the shelf space in both my living room and my studio sound system racks. My second K-03 arrived this morning. It didn't take me long to get it unpacked, placed in the studio two channel system rack, and start spinning the Esoteric break-in disc on repeat. I will let the break-in disc spin continuously until May 20th. Of course I will be spinning some music along the way, but the K-03 will play non-stop until it passes the anointed 500 hours of break-in.

It is so easy to be awestruck by the beauty of the magnificent Esoteric K-03 SACD/CD/DAC. Before I placed it in the studio rack I spent quite a few minutes just letting my eyes drift around its smooth lines. The thick solid brushed aluminum top panel and side panels melt perfectly into the beautiful thick contoured face place. When lifting this player, the sheer weight of the K-03's 62 lbs. immediately signals you this is no hollow box run of the mill audio component. In fact it is hefty enough that some may decide to seek help lifting this player into a rack.

Once the connections were made and the two meter Wireworld Silver Electra power cord was plugged into the PurePower 2000, I pressed the power button and watched this fine audio jewel come to life. A light touch on the Open button and the disc tray slipped smoothly and silently out, slowing its travel just before stopping. The same takes place when the disc drawer closes. It is such a pleasure to operate the K-03. Esoteric truly knows how to build amazing premium quality digital audio players.

So there it is. Both of my audio systems are now sourced by the Esoteric K-03's. It was difficult to let the McIntosh MCD1100 players move to new owners because they are true beauties, too. It also took some adjusting on my part to embrace a silver component sitting in a rack full of black glass faced components, but I have opened my mind to the K-03's presence without regret. I can't imagine anyone owning the Esoteric K-03 and not being absolutely thrilled with everything about it. Put a check mark by my name in the Happy Camper column. . :applause:
