I have a watch given to my grandfather in 1944 by a German Field Marshall that works flawlessly after all these years.
|
they just recently introduced what I believe to be the most accurate quartz watch, + or - 5 sec per year. previous benchmark was 10 sec per year

Not really, they go right up the pay scale with just ETA movements, which fails to garner my respect.Build quality might be slightly ahead of Tissot, but that's about it. Back in the day perhaps...

They’re one of the oldest timepiece companies out there.
Funny that you post this, I just sent this article to my brother yesterday.... Found: A Longines Retail Display Case From The Golden Age Of Aviation https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/lo...aviation-found |

ETA makes some fine movements. Without them, mechanical might have to give way to smartphones and smart watches. I wouldn’t knock ETA mechanical movements; they’re used in many high-end brands. |
Neat article.
Thanks for sharing. |
